I thought that speaking truth,
that unforbidding the forbidden would
ease the hard pull of craving…
I couldn’t be more wrong.
I wake in the dark of early morning with
poems on the same tongue that
longs to taste you.
My body
is a curled-up snake,
vibrating with the first notes of its charmer.
The lid knocks free and I,
I am undulating,
mesmerized —
nothing exists but the music that plays through my body,
and the desire to please.
I am the root
seeking deeper earth.
I am the flower
arching towards the sun.
I am the bee
hungry for the nectar.
And you,
you are sun and earth and
the honey these parched lips long for.
My body is a poem
waiting for the pen.
It is a song
waiting for the guitar.
It is an orchestra
bow ready on the string
waiting to be played.
