There was a moment
when you and I together created a universe
and entered it via the doorway of lips, nipples, genitals
and through the deepening gaze of
attachment and tenderness —
God came out my eyes and traveled down my face.
There was a moment,
three or four to be more accurate,
when your retreat was a visceral loss
like an umbilical cord cut.
There was a moment
when I knew it was too much for you
And if I’m very honest
took me also to the edge of my grounding.
There was a moment
when I held the paradoxical all of it
in the cupped palms of my hands
like a sprouted seed ready for planting.
There is now —
This moment,
And only this moment
of the extended pause,
of the inhale of possibility
and the exhale of nonattachment
