Safety

Rain rain
hitting hard against the
Windowpane.
A glass face of rivulets
palms outstretched
(only on the sheltered side)
thirty-eight stories up high
looking down
could be falling
to the ground.

Down on rooftops
men toiling in the rain
nothing
and everything
stays the same.

Wind fifty miles an hour
a tornado.

And Hail,
big hail striking, but
Ha!
You can’t touch me
you can’t hurt me;
I’m safe in here and
the lights are on.
