A therapist for therapists, coaches and healers
You are the one people bring their unraveling to. Clients lay their tangled threads in your hands, and you hold them with care, session after session, year after year. That devotion is a craft, and sometimes it is a weight: you may be working through your own unraveling, or doing your work from a subtle therapist part rather than from your whole, spacious, grounded Self.
Sometimes you carry that weight home. You may not yet have learned how to release it fully back to your clients’ guides and their own true Source. Or perhaps you have that skill, and now one client touches your tender parts and stirs up others that make it hard to relinquish.
Everyone I know who is committed to this work carries the same double load: wholehearted service to the people in their care, and their own material moving underneath it. Sometimes a client’s story presses on an old bruise. Sometimes the work you love starts to wear thin the life that feeds it. You need a place to bring all of that, and a therapist for therapists who knows the loom from both sides.
Deeper than therapy
I am a licensed psychotherapist, a certified IFS therapist and an Approved IFS Consultant, and I have been working with the Internal Family Systems model for over twenty-five years. Before any of that I was a massage therapist, and my training runs through Hakomi, the Rubenfeld Synergy Method and somatic approaches to IFS. While I continue to hold my license, the model I learned has, over the decades, put down roots into everything else I was learning and grown into Neoshamanic IFS, the work I practice and teach today.
Over those years my work has grown deeper than therapy. The clinical frame taught me precision and care, and I honor it. It was built too narrow to hold everything that heals us: the land, ritual, community, the ancestors, the sacred. What I offer practitioners now draws from all of it. The sessions on this page are consultation, mentorship and spiritual accompaniment, offered outside my license rather than as psychotherapy.
The best way to describe myself might be to say that I am an integrationist. As I write this, I am in my sixty-second year, and a lifetime of trainings, ceremonies, clients and teachers has woven itself into one cloth, each thread pulling on the others. Seeing the whole pattern at once, and knowing which thread to tug, is what an elder brings to the room.
When you are looking for an elder
There comes a season in a practitioner’s life when what you long for is an elder: someone further down the road, who has sat through decades of human suffering and human joy and kept the heart open. Someone who can speak to what this work asks of a person across a lifetime, and what it gives back. I sit in that seat for the practitioners who come to me, and I hold it with great respect.
Elders need elders too. Practitioners well down the road themselves carry their own material, and some of it asks to be worked through in the company of a peer who has walked as far. If that is you, there is a place for you here.
What individual sessions look like
No two sessions run the same, because we begin with what is alive in you that day.
Some days the session is your own healing. A client’s loss has stirred your loss, or a protector that has guarded your practice for twenty years is exhausted and ready to set its burden down. We turn toward your parts, and toward your body, with curiosity, and the knot begins to give.
Some days we go further in. We may call on your ancestors and guides, or journey to ask what the divine is asking of you now. Healing that reaches back through your family line often begins here. Now and then we meet something darker, an energy that attached itself along the way and never belonged to your system. We treat it with respect and help it find its way back to Source.
Some days it is consultation. You bring the client who has you stumped, the session that went sideways, the moment your hand wanted to reach toward someone and you held it back. We look at the case and at the parts of you it stirred, because in this work the two are always woven together.
Most sessions braid these. My clients span the globe, so the majority of sessions I provide are online, which means you can work with me from wherever you are. I also offer in-person sessions at the Soul Medicine Sanctuary, my home retreat in Longmont, Colorado.
Consultation for practitioners
I offer consultation to therapists and practitioners whatever model you work from. You bring your cases and the places you feel stuck, and we look at them together. For those who work with Internal Family Systems, I also offer IFS consultation, both for people working toward IFS certification and for anyone using the model with others, licensed or not. Therapists, coaches, bodyworkers, spiritual companions, medicine weavers: there is a seat for you at this loom.
Neoshamanic IFS and integrative work
The model I practice and teach is Neoshamanic IFS. It braids Internal Family Systems with shamanic and mystical practices, ceremony and ritual, creative and expressive arts, as well as eldering and somatic work. IFS tends primarily to the relationship between Self and parts. Neoshamanic IFS widens the circle to every source of healing we can reach: the inner world (Self, parts and body); the outer world (nature and community); and the mystical world (ancestors and guides).
Psychotherapeutic Touch consultation
Touch is the oldest thread in the healing cloth, and the one most practitioners were taught to cut. My working life has run along the seam where touch and depth work meet. Psychotherapeutic Touch consultation is for practitioners who want to bring safe, attuned touch into their sessions, and for those already doing it who need a place to think out loud.
Touch Matters, my psychotherapeutic touch consultation group, meets online in a small circle. Individual touch consultation is also available. Both are open to practitioners whose touch work happens in everyday states of consciousness and to those working in the altered states that medicine opens, including psychedelic-assisted work.
Individual and group retreats
Sometimes a single weekly session on a screen is too small a vessel. For practitioners ready to go deep, I offer individual retreats: two to five days of focused work together at Soul Medicine Sanctuary in Longmont, Colorado. Retreats are all-inclusive. Lodging, meals and any adjunct services from my trusted collaborators are covered. Travel is the one cost you carry yourself: flights, a rental car, whatever gets you here. I also lead group retreats for practitioners, colleagues and teams who want to step out of their caseloads and into their own renewal together. To hear when group retreats are scheduled, add your name to my email list.
Retreats are an investment, made for people ready to give their own healing the time they give everyone else’s.
Trainings and events
Trainings have their own door: visit Trainings, Workshops & Retreats for what I teach. For the kinds of group work I offer, see the Events page, and for in-person gatherings in Longmont, see events at Soul Medicine Sanctuary.
Passing it on
I have spent more than forty years learning how people heal, in clinic rooms and in ceremony, on the land and in my own body. That knowing came to me through teachers, clients, ancestors and guides, and it was never meant to end with me. Passing it on to the healers coming up behind me is how I give it back. If you hold others for a living, it would be an honor to hold you.
You give your best threads to the people in your care. Bring the rest of the cloth here, frayed edges and all, and we will weave it back together anew.
